Join us for a fantastic weekend immersed in Plein Air Watercolor or Cooking workshops by the water in Kennebunkport Maine. (Choose one option for the weekend) Expert instructors and small class sizes ensures personalized attention to take your passion for painting or cooking to the next level. When you register for the option you select from below, you will be prompted to choose between Painting or Cooking. Only one option may be selected.

Watercolor Painting is an exciting medium; it flows and moves and does beautiful things. Instructor Mary Laury has been recognized for her work by the Maine Arts Commission. Workshop participants will do landscapes and seascapes in this 4 session course. If you have never painted in watercolors we will start at the beginning. If you have painted before, you may pick up some new tips and tricks as well. We all learn together!

A total of 12 hours of painting; Friday afternoon demo and lesson, Saturday morning demo and Saturday afternoon outside plein air painting. Sunday morning we'll finish up with show and tell. We will do studies of sky, water, and rocks, culminating in a finished painting (or two) of a seascape. Materials will be provided, but bring what you have. Some basic suggestions to bring if you have them; pencil, eraser, ruler, tape, sketch paper, Viva paper towels, a small water container, clipboard, and a bag to put them in. Feel free to bring your own favorite brushes and other equipment.

Cooking engages all the senses. For more than 40 years Chris Toy has shared his love of cooking with students across Maine. We’ll have 12 hours together including field trips to local fish and farmers markets as well as the international section of nearby grocers. We’ll prepare 4 complete meals; Dinner on Friday, Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast. Workshops will include selecting ingredients and caring for tools including boards, knives, woks, and pasta makers. Recipes will include but not be limited to handmade tortillas, noodles, stuffed pastas, sauces, cast iron cooking, maki rolls, Asian hotpot, and desserts. Dietary requirements and preferences will be accommodated with advance notification.

Note: A full schedule and additional details will be sent to you when you register for the class.
